An Inconvenient Sequal
February 28, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
We are pleased to partner with the Portland Public Library and the Natural Resources Council of Maine for the February 28th edition of the Sustainability Series. Join us for a free screening of Al Gore’s new climate change film, “An Inconvenient Sequel,” on Wednesday, February 28th at 5:30pm in the Rines Auditorium.
Kristin Jackson, Federal Project Outreach Coordinator at NRCM will give a brief presentation and review of current federal climate policy and ways you can take action. Decisions made in Washington, DC have lasting effects on Maine’s treasured fresh air, thriving wildlife, clean water, and on the health of Maine people and our way of life.
Right now, the Trump Administration is rolling back major laws that protect our air and climate, despite the effects of climate change becoming ever more present. With hurricanes pummeling the Caribbean, wildfires raging in Northern California, and Maine on pace for the warmest October on record, it is clear that climate change is happening now. As we all take action in our own lives to minimize our impact and educate our friends and family, it’s important that we are equipped with up to date climate facts and data.
A decade after An Inconvenient Truth brought the climate crisis into the heart of popular culture comes the riveting and rousing follow-up that shows just how close we are to a real energy revolution. Former Vice President Al Gore continues his tireless fight, traveling around the world training an army of climate champions and influencing international climate policy. Cameras follow him behind the scenes – in moments both private and public, funny and poignant — as he pursues the inspirational idea that while the stakes have never been higher, the perils of climate change can be overcome with human ingenuity and passion.
