The September edition of Portland’s Sustainability Series will feature Northeastern Wilderness Trust Executive Director Jon Leibowitz.
Why Wilderness? Why now? And how much do we need in the face of a changing climate? After a century of forest recovery, Northeastern forests are again on the decline as our population grows and infrastructure expands. But momentum for wilderness preservation is on the rise. Join us for a dynamic presentation investigating the threats to wild places and wildlife of the Northeast, and the opportunity to shape a more vibrant future for nature and people in our home region.

GUEST SPEAKER: Jon Leibowitz is the Executive Director of Northeast Wilderness Trust, a regional land trust focused exclusively on forever-wild conservation. He earned a Masters in Environmental Law and Policy and a Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School. Prior to his current role, he and his family lived in Southwest Colorado, where he served as Executive Director of the Montezuma Land Conservancy. Jon is an avid hiker and gardener and serves on the board of Vermont Parks Forever.
