SMCC joined up with our friends from the Gastro-Go-Go Roaming Food Truck Party at Rising Tide Brewing Company, Sunday, July 14th, as their non-profit partner thanks to Haley Campbell, a former SMCC Summer Associate and co-owner of Greeks of Peaks food truck! A fun event that gave people a chance to connect the dots between clean water, good beer, good food and conservation!

The event was a great success! We met so many fantastic people, who not only care about food and beer but also our environment. Many enthusiastically onlookers to our booth even took a photo with #PledgeICare to share and show they care about our environment. We had conversations with people from all walks of life. Through our “What Matters To You Most” Poll Station, people were given the opportunity to cast their vote between three categories. 1. CLEAN WATER; 2. CLIMATE ACTION; 3. ACCESS TO RECREATION. When the votes were counted, Clean Water had the most votes, followed closely by Climate Action and Access to Recreation. We really found it interesting to hear new perspectives from a wide variety of people on environmental issues and they appreciated being able to lend their voice to the conversations. In addition to the polling station, people were able to write down thoughts they had on the voting categories as well as share where and what they like to do for recreation in Maine by drawing it on a large map that was displayed by our booth. It was heartwarming to also see the adults with children get involved in the activities and to think that maybe one day they could be future leaders in the environmental movement.
